Struggles of an Introvert

“Solitude matters, and for some people, it's the air they breathe”
― Susan Cain

What people don't realize is that introverts find engagement in the smallest of life experiences. They don't need to be surrounded by a crowd. They don't want to go out just for the sake of going out. They simply do not crave the spot light. Their loyalties, mostly, lie with themselves and this can be the biggest trouble spot.

They are content with themselves and may very well, end up offending others with their apparent lack of interest or disregard. Hence, a conscious  effort is required on their part in order to ensure that they don't end up neglecting others or worse, being the party poppers.

Therefore, for the sake of courtesy, they have to comply with decisions that may not seem to be optimal to them. And don't get me wrong. Most times, the outcome of these decisions will turn out to be quite memorable, one way or the another. In fact, these are essential to force the introverts out of their comfort zone. On the flip side, being surrounded by people for too long ends up draining them mentally.  They can very easily go home thinking, "oh man, I totally wasted my day. No way am I doing this again. I hope I am able to salvage the day, somehow".

It is a double-edged sword for sure. You can't live without it while can't having too much of it, either.

However, from another perspective, the fact that it matters little what the other person is doing can be quite blissful. The introverts end up focusing on themselves and treating them as their own competition. In this way, they can filter out the noise of the world and truly excel.

But, on the flip side, their self-content can work against them here. If they just don't see themselves as lacking somewhere, they will not make an effort to move forward. In extreme cases, they will even fail to remedy an ill, even when it is glaringly obvious to everyone around them.

Therefore,  it is crucial that introverts do not confine themselves in a bubble. They do need the occasional reality check and for that, they need the outside world to drag them out of their comfort zone.

Oh, it is not easy being an introvert. You have to walk a tightrope, wherein it is critical to keep the balance in order to keep your sanity intact.
