Dreams are of paramount importance because they keep us alive.
To understand this, we need to go back to our youth - the sweetest time of our life. When we were young, we had a clear dream and knew exactly what we wanted to do in life.
When we were young, we had all kinds of dreams! There were the plausible ones like being a doctor, engineer, or a pilot and there were the downright nonsensical ones like becoming a super hero. Regardless, we were dead serious about our dreams. We had complete faith that we can achieve your dreams. It is for the same reason that we were so anxious to grow up. We wanted to turn our dreams into reality and therefore, enthusiastic about growing up.
Unfortunately, for many of us, adulthood brought us face to face with the merciless reality. It took no time to pounce on our dreams and destroyed them to pieces. We lost our dreams to reality but we did not give up. We persevered and made new dreams. However, this time around, we were careful to create our dreams in a manner to make them safe from reality.
We created dreams that were manageable. For example, if I wanted to be a superhero, I wanted to serve the society deep down inside. Therefore, I figured that a more appropriate dream would be to reach a position in the future where I will be able to start my own welfare organization or contribute significantly towards charity. Hence, our new dreams were both achievable and realistic. Nothing could possibly go wrong now, eh?
However, somehow, somewhere, something did go wrong but this time around, the culprit was no one other than us, ourselves. We turned out to be the biggest obstacle in our quest of conquering our dreams. We ended up being distracted and forgetting our dreams. If we remembered them, we were afraid to go ahead and grasp them because we either doubted ourselves, or were afraid of failure. This is the point in our lives that we stop living. We merely exist now, going through the same routine repeatedly, and wondering why life does not hold the same thrill for us anymore. This is because we are not living if we have given up on our dreams!
Dreams keep us alive from inside and make this life worth living. On this note, I will strongly urge you to watch the movie “Bucket list”, which beautifully addresses the importance of living your dreams. If we want to live, we will have to chase dreams that we have let go off. It is up to us to turn our dreams into reality because remember:
